Antique, all handmade, micro bead
floral purse featuring blue Morning Glories on green vines. This purse is a fine example of an antique crochet
beaded bag. Less common than the knitted beaded bags.
Inside is black satin
lining in excellent condition with one mirror pocket. The lining has been tacked in with beads in lieu of fabric trim.
There are no marks on the frame, but it appears to be a butterscotch bakelite type material that
has been clad, or married, with cream colored celluloid or other early plastic material. It is a most unusual frame and
lends a perfect contrast to this bag. The frame holes have also been covered with beads demonstrating the attention to detail
the maker demanded of herself.
The butterscotch chain is also in perfect condition.
The extra long, twisted fringe is double, having been made separately on each side of the
bag, so it is thicker than most fringes.
The person who created this purse knew what they were doing and
had exceptional sewing skills! Right down to the finishing line underneath the design to set it off.
Very lovely, all original; the flowers and vines made with micro beads. The white background beads
are slightly larger and provide a nice contrast to the overall purse.
You
will not be disappointed in the quality of this bag. There are no 'weak links'..... no missing beads; it is nearly as
perfect and strong as one could find. The only flaw are a couple of faint stains near the frame. In most light, they are not
noticed. They are visible in the photos.
This purse is in fine
condition and could easily be carried to any gathering.
